Who Wants to Hurt Barb?: With her eyebrow-raising comments broadcasted on the local news, Barb (Felicity Huffman) has made a number of enemies. The anger toward her is so intense, it drives some to want to hurt her. Even a simple grocery shopping errand is difficult for her without being assaulted by a flying brick.
Bomb Threat: Preparations for the march for Carter (Elvis Nolasco) are well underway when Aliyah (Regina King), Timothy, and the others at the rally office are evacuated by the police due to an apparent bomb threat. When they discover there's no bomb, they realize someone just wants to scare them.
Jessie Gives Her Support: A fragile Barb is looking to get supporters to march with her and finds it in her new friend Jessie. But when Jessie states she believes in the segregation of races, Barb is surprised. She's even more shocked when Jessie thinks she shares in the same belief.
Reality Check: Barb and Nancy voice their concerns over the discouraging number of people on their side for the march. Nancy expresses that she refuses to be involved if the likes of Jessie are invited. Barb asks her point-blank if she thinks she's a racist; when Nancy doesn't answer, it speaks volumes.
A Peaceful Protest Turns Violent: The day of the big protest arrives and all sides have gathered to demonstrate. Carter's supporters are met on the opposite side by the authorities who order them to disperse. Tensions rise and what was supposed to be a peaceful protest erupts into violence.
