3 Reasons to Watch "American Crime"

American Crime, the anticipated new drama from Oscar® winner John Ridley, premieres THURSDAY MARCH 5 10|9c on ABC. Here are the top three reasons you're not going to want to miss it.


1. The Cast 

American Crime has assembled a cast of veteran actors and up-and-coming young talent to deliver deliver raw, riveting performances unlike anything else on network television. Felicity Huffman, best known for her Emmy-award winning role as Lynette Scavo on ABC's Desperate Housewivesscored a Best Actress Oscar® nomination for TransamericaLeverage star Timothy Hutton won an Academy Award® for his performance in Ordinary People. Veteran actor and writer W. 2. The Creator

American Crime was created by John Ridley, a novelist known for his work in literature, televison and film. In 2014, he won an Academy Award® for Best Adapted Screenplay for 12 Years a Slave. Ridley brought many of his talents to American Crime, including writing, directing and producing.





3. The Story

American Crime centers around the brutal attack of a young couple in Modesto, California. Matt Skokie, a war vet, is murdered, and his wife, Gwen, is left unconscious, barely hanging on. The crime sends shock waves throughout the community stirring up tensions across socioeconomic and racial lines in this gritty new drama — from the points of view of all those involved. "It's not about the police. It's not about the prosecutors. It's really about the family," creator John Ridley says.
