American Idol 2018 Week 5 Recap: Duet Performances & 5 Sent Home from Top 24

With auditions and Hollywood Week behind us, the American Idol 2018 competition moved on to the Top 24 round. Over this and next week, the Top 24 were divided into two groups of 12, with each group performing both live solos as well as teaming up with music stars like Andy Grammer, Allen Stone, Aloe Blacc, Bishop Briggs, Luis Fonsi, Pat Monahan and Sugarland for all-star duets. After both nights of performances, it was down to judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie to choose which seven would move on to America's Vote and which five would see their American Idol journey end. You can stream Episode 9: Top 24 Solos and Episode 10: Top 24 Celebrity Duets here on ABC.com or in the ABC app to see the full episodes, but here are some highlights you won't want to miss, starting with who is left on American Idol?

American Idol 2018 Top 14, So Far...

As you can see in the clip above, it was a tough choice for the judges, but in the end they sent Cade Foehner, Catie Turner, Dennis Lorenzo, Gabby Barrett, Jonny Brenns, Michael J. Woodard, and Michelle Sussett on to America's Vote. So who went home on American Idol? We said goodbye to Brandon Diaz, Dominique, Kay Kay, Layla Spring, and Trevor McBane.

Catie Turner Turns It Up

Catie Turner has made some interesting song choices so far, but no one was expecting her to literally let her hair down like she did during her solo performance of Blondie's "Call Me."

Michelle Sussett Takes It Slow

It's been a non-stop party with Michelle Sussett since her first audition got the judges dancing (and Katy Perry falling down), but she and Luis Fonsi slowed things down to sing a lovely duet performance of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me."

Dennis Lorenzo's Audition Call Back

It wasn't so long ago that Dennis Lorenzo auditioned for the judges, playing Allen Stone's "Unaware" on a guitar with a hole in it. Now he's performing the same song, on stage, with Allen Stone. He even kept the guitar.

Gabby Barrett and Sugarland in Perfect Harmony

Young Gabby Barrett has definitely had her share of struggles in the competition so far, but she absolutely brought it for her duet with Sugarland that had the judges stunned and helped to cement her spot heading into America's Vote.
