In the black-ish Season 1 premiere episode, "Pilot," Dre (Anthony Anderson) wants to stay in touch with his roots, while his son Andre Jr. (Marcus Scribner) wants to play field hockey instead of baskteball and be called "Andy" instead of "Dre." Andre Jr. also wants to have a bar mitzvah...
Dre finally gives in and throws his son a bar mitzvah, because sometimes "keeping it real" means admitting you're wrong. But being a dad also means you need to be right.
