DWTS 2016 Recap: Laurie Hernandez Dances to Honor Her Late Grandmother

Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars 2016 continued in Week 10's Semifinals as the five remaining teams took part in individual routines as well as the always-challenging trio dances. The Dancing with the Stars cast turned in another another incredible night of dancing fun in a heated battle to make it to the Fall 2016 Finals. Which stars shined brightest as the quest for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy continued? Let's find out right now. Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy (Foxtrot): There were some touching scenes between Laurie and her grandmother in the video package that was shown before the dance. We then learned that Laurie's grandmother had passed away the day after she was interviewed. Carrie Ann feels Laurie delivered the dance with so much passion. Julianne knows her grandmother is smiling at what everyone just saw. Bruno said Laurie looked like she was flying as if she was guided by an angel. Terra Jole and Sasha Farber (Rumba): Bruno loved the hip action and the content of the dance. Carrie Ann was fighting back the tears as she stated that the quality of her movement is like the quality of Terra--untouchable. Julianne was impressed that all of Terra's moves were completely original in her best dance of the season. 10-10-10 from the judges for a perfect 30. SEE TERRA JOLE'S FULL SEMIFINALS DANCE!

James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess (Argentine Tango): Sharna made her triumphant return and she was blindfolded right up until the very end of the routine when James did a handstand right on top of her. Julianne said James was standing on his hands while everyone else in the room was standing on their feet. Bruno called the dance an Argentine Grand Prix. Carrie Ann, however, saw a few missteps at the start. 9-10-10 from the judges for a total of 29. SEE JAMES HINCHCLIFFE'S FULL SEMIFINALS DANCE!

Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko (Quickstep): It was a sensational shoe store setting for a dance that Carrie Ann said was great after a slightly shaky beginning. Bruno said it was an elegant, slick routine that was full of content. 9-9-10 from the judges for a total of 28. SEE JANA KRAMER'S FULL SEMIFINALS DANCE!

Calvin Johnson, Jr. and Lindsay Arnold (Tango): Julianne loved the dance, the chemistry, the passion but there was a little bit of a mess-up. Bruno knows Calvin went for it with such power and determination which may have led to those few stumbles. Carrie Ann feels Calvin overpowered Lindsay a bit, but she gave him an A for effort. 8-9-9 from the judges for a total of 26. SEE CALVIN JOHNSON'S FULL SEMIFINALS DANCE!

The Trio Dance Challenge!

James & Sharna & Jenna Trio Dance (Jive):

James was all revved up with this high-octane jive with Sharna and Jenna by his side. Julianne loved that James was front and center while everyone remained in sync. Bruno added that he never lost timing no matter who he was dancing with at any given time. Carrie Ann agreed that everything worked out perfectly. 10-10-10 from the judges for a perfect 30. James and Sharna's total for the night: 59.

Terra & Sasha & Artem Trio Dance (Tango):

Bruno called Terra a saucy little vixen who was certainly the star of the show, but he also praised the choreography of the boys. Carrie Ann agreed that the dance was well-constructed around Terra, who slayed the dance. Julianne knows something changed in Terra and she was totally on fire. 10-10-10 from the judges for another perfect 30. Terra and Sasha's total for the night: 60.

Jana & Gleb & Alan Trio Dance (Paso):

Carrie Ann was blown away by what she called artistry in motion. Julianne said that Jana was Queen of the Ballroom. Bruno said everyone was under Jana's spell in a dance that was high passion dressed in high fashion. Scores of 10-10-10 from the judges for a perfect 30. Jana and Gleb's total for the night: 58.

Calvin & Lindsay & Witney Trio Dance (Salsa):

Everyone was on their feet during this one. Julianne called it one spicy salsa. The dance was pure fun. Bruno said this is what the show is all about. Carrie Ann said Calvin turned everything around and he brought the A-game in a fun, lighthearted way. 10-10-10 from the judges for a total of 30. Calvin and Lindsay's total for the night: 56.

Laurie & Val & Maks Trio Dance (Samba):

Oh, brother! Laurie and the Chmerkovskiy boys gave the perfect ending to a super night of dancing. Carrie Ann called this Laurie's best dance ever. Julianne loved the Latin action she saw from Laurie in this dance. 10-10-10 from the judges for a perfect 30. Laurie and Val's total for the night: 60.

At the end of the night, one team had to bid adieu to the ballroom.
