Cristina Imagines "What If...?": After successfully performing a delicate operation, Cristina is shaken when the patient ultimately is forced to decide whether he wants to live in his current condition or die. This experience leads to Cristina questioning the way she's living her life. She imagines the two routes her life can take based on one decision she makes. What if she had a family with Owen? And the Harper Avery Goes to....: In the same "What if...?" scenario, Cristina wonders if she did choose to have a family with Owen, would it mean ultimately giving up on her professional dreams? It certainly feels that way as she presents the coveted Harper-Avery Award to none other than Dr. Shane Ross.
On the Other Hand...: What if Cristina chose NOT to be with Owen? After imagining the possibilities of a family, she then thinks about a possible route her life would take without one Dr. Hunt. Cristina's Big Day: In this second "What if...?" scenario, things certainly look bleak for Owen. But is all hope lost for Cristina? She ends up dressed in a stunning white dress as she awaits a mystery man to arrive for a very special day. When the individual finally shows, he's revealed to be Shane! Turns out, her special day in the future is the day she is presented with her fourth consecutive Harper-Avery Award.
