Field Report: End of the Beginning

Welcome back, Agents. The hunt for The Clairvoyant was on with Agent Coulson calling in Agents Hand, Blake, Sitwell and Garrett for support on a secret operation to take him down. But with Deatlok and a potential gifted with the power to read minds in play, no plan was safe. Skye has officially joined S.H.I.E.L.D. as a Level One Agent and it's believed that the man known as The Clairvoyant was killed by Agent Grant Ward in the field. The full mission debriefing follows.

Agent Coulson and his team's methods have become increasingly unorthodox over the past few months, including the inclusion of a former member of The Rising Tide, a hacker calling herself Skye, as a member of their team. However, over the course of several dangerous missions, including almost losing her life in an encounter with Ian Quinn, Skye has passed every entry exam and now officially joins the ranks of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It would seem that Deathlok has been significantly upgraded since Coulson's team last encountered him. Agent Blake was seriously injured in the field fighting against the cybernetically enhanced man formerly known as Mike Peterson. Agent Melinda May was barely able to escape the blast from his new wrist-mounted rocket launcher. Agent Jemma Simmons has been recalled to The Hub as a resident expert on Deathlok, though she seems more interested in the lab facilities.

During his encounter with Deathlok, Agent Blake managed to shoot him with one of Agent Leo Fitz's new Tag Rounds, planting a micro-transceiver on him so that Deathlok could be tracked via satellite. Agents Coulson and Garrett led a strike team to apprehend Deathlok. While the target escaped, he did lead the team straight to Thomas Nash, the man they believe to be The Clairvoyant. In a severe breach of protocol, Agent Ward killed Mr. Nash before he could be properly interrogated.

Agent Skye followed up with Coulson on her review of personnel files during the hunt for The Clairvoyant. The two of them put together several disturbing details that point to a new theory—that The Clairvoyant was not a gifted with psychic powers, but rather someone with access to S.H.I.E.L.D. files, perhaps even a high-ranking Agent. It's still unknown if this theory is sound, however.

The situation aboard The Bus destabilized as their mission drew to a close, with Agent Fitz discovering that Agent May had a secret hard-line to a single, unknown receiver. With his theory about The "real" Clairvoyant, Agent Coulson doesn't exactly trust Agent May when he learns this information. Agent Victoria Hand has recalled The Bus back to The Hub.
