Once Upon a Time Winter Finale Recap: Who Dies in “Swan Song”?
Welcome to the official Once Upon a Time winter finale recap for Season 5, Episode 11, "Swan Song" (original airdate December 6, 2015). Hook is determined to get his long-awaited revenge on Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold and is assisted by Nimue and all of the previous Dark Ones. Meanwhile, Emma is on a mission to save Storybrooke and stop Hook, no matter what it takes. See how it all unfolds in the Magical Moments recap below.
The Ultimate Sacrifice: Mary Margaret, Henry and David decide on spending their last moments together at dinner at Granny’s. Emma promises to go to say goodbye, but not before making Regina keep her promise from Camelot: to sacrifice her to the darkness.
Hello, Father: Ordered by Regina to kill his father, Hook faces the father that abandoned him and the two catch up. Hook decides to spare his father’s life, but learns some big news: Hook now has another brother.
Tricky, Tricky: With the sword hidden in her house, Emma fetches Excalibur but is intercepted by Hook. She refuses to give it up, so he tricks her by pretending to be Henry and snatches the sword from her.
The Man He Wants to Be: Hook decides to be the man he wants to be and sucks in all the Dark Ones into Excalibur. He tells Emma it’s he who deserves to go to the Underworld and begs her to stab him with the sword. A hesitant and tearful Emma does so and transforms into her normal self, with Hook dying in her arms.
The Real Dark One: Emma confronts Mr. Gold about the dagger, leading him to reveal that he made Excalibur a conduit so the darkness from Hook was channeled somewhere safe instead of being destroyed. Mr. Gold is now the Dark One again. Emma demands Gold to help rescue Hook or she will tell Belle everything.
