Shark Tank Wins Reality Breakthrough Award

Congratulations to Shark Tank on winning the first-ever Reality Breakthrough Award for best competition series. The award was given out January 20 at the NATPE (National Association of Television Program Executives) conference in Miami.

The show's executive producer Clay Newbill accepted the award, saying, "I'd like to thank the folks at ABC who stuck with Shark Tank when it wasn't a hit and they believed it could find an audience and it eventually did." He also thanked "the entrepreneurs who come up every day and pitch their hearts out and try to get money from these tough bastards," indicating Sharks Kevin O’Leary and Daymond John, who were also in attendance.
