Actor Biography

Ally Sheedy is Carol, Samantha's overbearing but absent parent, in Freeform's highly anticipated comedy "Single Drunk Female."

Sheedy is an actor, author and professor. Her first film role was opposite Sean Penn in "Bad Boys" (1983). Since then, she has appeared in over 50 film and television projects, notably "War Games," "The Breakfast Club," "St. Elmo's Fire," "Short Circuit," "High Art" (Best Actress-Independent Spirit Award, LA Critics Award, National Society of Film Critics), "Life During Wartime" (Gotham Award nomination), and "Full Circle." Sheedy also played the character Yang in the series "Psych" from 2009 to 2014.

Sheedy appeared in "X Men: Apocalypse" and also in the critically acclaimed indie film "Little Sister" in 2016 and most recently in the series "SMILF" on Showtime.

She published two books as well as several essays and articles. She is the proud mom of Beckett Lansbury and is a film professor at The City College of New York.
