Earlier this year, Makkar starred on the NBC series Champions, created by Mindy Kaling and Charlie Grandy, opposite Anders Holm and Fortune Feimster.
Her additional TV credits include series regular roles in the CW pilot Untitled Mars Project, the NBC pilot Unveiled and the FOX pilot Sober Companion, as well as recurring roles on Chicago Fire (NBC), Vampire Diaries (CW), The Exorcist (FOX), Matador (El Rey) and The Following (FOX). Makkar has also appeared on 9JKL (CBS), Law and Order: SVU (NBC), Chicago Justice (NBC), American Horror Story: Hotel (FX), Bones (FOX), Stalker (CBS), Back in the Game (ABC), Betrayal (ABC), Sirens (USA), See Dad Run (Nickelodeon) and Mob Doctor (FOX).
Makkar is also a well-known stage actress in both Chicago and Los Angeles. She is a former ensemble member of Stage Left Theatre and has worked with Eclipse Theatre, Collaboraction, First Folio Theatre, Rasaka Theatre, The Side Project, Silk Road Rising and Writers' Theatre, among others. Regional credits include the titular role in Romeo and Juliet at Cardinal Stage (IN) and the world premiere of Dirty at The Gift Theatre (IL).
Makkar was born in India and raised in the United Arab Emirates until she moved with her family to the U.S. as a teenager, where they settled in Chicago. She started out in investment banking and private equity but has since found her true calling in acting and writing. She is fluent in both English and Malayalam, and is a graduate of the School at Steppenwolf and the Second City Conservatory writing programs.
