"The View" is Taking Back The Beach with Refinery29
Body shaming is always a Hot Topic on The View, so when we heard about lifestyle site Refinery29's mission to "Take Back the Beach," we took it personally! Since summer's almost here, we're going to change the conversation about what a "beach body" is, and we want your help! Later this month we're going to be sharing our stories about body image issues, and we want to hear yours too - and what you're doing about it! Post a photo on Instagram or Twitter wearing beachwear you feel confident in, and hold up a sign with the one word describing how you feel! Post it with #takebackthebeach!
In April Refinery29 kicked off the second installment of Take Back The Beach, a global body positivity initiative that explores body image for women of all shapes, sizes, colors, beliefs, background and stages in life. The beach is a metaphor for the places that women feel judged or shut out of - as if they have to look a certain way to simply exist - and through the Take Back The Beach initiative, Refinery29 aims to rally women to feel confident as they take up space in the world, no matter where they are or what they look like. The driving principle tells women: It's your body. It's your summer. Enjoy them both. For more information visit: http://www.refinery29.com/take-back-the-beach.
