Actor Biography

Kelly Bishop portrays Mrs. Ivey, a lifelong resident of The Greybourne who rules the roost and is accustomed to getting her way through a potent combination of wealth, power and sheer force of will on Freeform's "The Watchful Eye."

Bishop is best known for playing the iconic roles of matriarch Emily Gilmore in "Gilmore Girls" and Jennifer Grey's mother, Marjorie Houseman, in "Dirty Dancing." Additionally, Bishop is acclaimed for creating the role of Sheila in "A Chorus Line," which earned her a Tony Award®. Bishop reunited with "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino on "Bunheads" as Fanny Flowers and reprised her role as Emily in Netflix's "Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life." She was a series regular in Ryan Murphy's Netflix limited series "Halston," and her additional television credits include "Sex & Drugs & Rock N' Roll" and "Flesh and Bone." Bishop's Broadway credits include "Six Degrees of Separation" and "Anything Goes" with Sutton Foster.
