To celebrate the 2015 Emmy Nominations, let's take a look back at the season 1 moments when American Crime tugged at our hearts:
Any moment with Felicity Huffman
Whether she was strong-willed Barb or on-the-verge-of-a-breakdown Barb, Huffman’s performance as the Skokie family matriarch was a powerful one. We scoffed when she sincerely asked “Am I a racist?” but also wanted to lend her a helping hand after she found out her husband Russ (Hutton) was dead and she was being shunned by her son, Mark.
Russ Identifies Matt’s Body
Only five minutes into the season premiere and Russ’ bathroom breakdown after identifying his son’s dead body had hearts breaking everywhere.

Carter Gets Shot
After learning his girlfriend Aubry (Caitlin Gerard) took the fall for his freedom, it seemed that Carter (Elvis Nolasco) was on the verge of doing the right thing – whatever that might have been. Unfortunately, he never got around to doing so, getting shot point-blank on the street by Russ.
Aliyah Plans to Protest
Determined to help Carter, Aliyah (King) announces she will be leading a peaceful protest in support of her brother.

Hector's Interview
After walking free in Sinaloa, Hector (Cabral) embarks on a new beginning, starting with a new job interview. When the interviewer questions his criminal history, he speaks candidly and truthfully about why he's changing his life around.
Tony Gets Arrested
In the midst of having a heated argument with his father Alonzo (Benito Martinez), Tony (Johnny Ortiz) is blindsided (and terrified) as he is arrested for the first time.
Jenny Comes Clean
There wasn't a dry eye when Jenny gave her honest and emotional testimony in support of Tony.
Can’t get enough of American Crime? Stay tuned for Season 2 on ABC!
