American Idol 2018 Recap: Top 14 Contestants Revealed

This week on American Idol, the second half of the Top 24 had their chance to impress judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan with their solo performances and all-star duets. Performing at the Academy LA in Hollywood, contestants Ada Vox, Alyssa Raghu, Amelia Hammer Harris, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Effie Passero, Garrett Jacobs, Jurnee, Maddie Poppe, Mara Justine, Marcio Donaldson, Ron Bultongez and Shannon O'Hara each did their best to show they had what it takes to be the next American Idol. Joining them for the all-star duets were performers like Allen Stone, Banners, Bebe Rexha, Cam, Colbie Caillat, Lea Michele and Rachel Platten. Young Mara Justine took some notes about her hair flips in the past, so this week she slowed things down a bit and focused on her powerful vocals, including this duet with Rachel Platten for a stripped back rendition of "Fight Song."

Garrett's Girlfriend Shows Up

After getting feedback on his duet with Colbie Caillat, and hearing how much Garrett Jacobs was missing his girlfriend, everyone--and I mean everyone!--was stunned to find out she was actually there in the audience!

Katy's Latest Wardrobe Malfunction

Katy ripped her pants from all of those standing ovations and Lionel Richie couldn't spend the rest of the show standing in front of her, so a little tape got the job done.

Marcio Has Some Fun With It

Marcio Donaldson has definitely been feeling the pressure so far, but in his duet with Allen Stone covering Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," we finally got to see him really having some fun out there.

The Judges' Final Elimination

At the end of the night, it was time to decide which seven contestants moved on. It was an emotional elimination that ended up leaving some fan favorites disappointed.
