Oscar Nominated Songs and First Live Coast-To-Coast Vote Determines "American Idol" Top 9

Oscar Nominated Songs and First Live Coast-To-Coast Vote Determines "American Idol" Top 9

The journey to naming 2021's "American Idol" has hit its next big landmark - the first live coast-to-coast voting episode! The Top 12 will all sing and host Ryan Seacrest will reveal who made the Top 9 at the end of the show. As always, judges Katy Perry Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan will be on hand to give their thoughts on the performances of Oscar-nominated songs. But first, Lionel kicks off the show with his own Oscar-winning song "Say You, Say Me" from the film "White Knights" starring Gregory Hines and Mikhail Baryshnikov.

After all of the contestants have performed, all 12 stand on stage and await Ryan to reveal their fates. Also, those that make it to the Top 9 will be off to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando!

In named order, Grace Kinstler, Casey Bishop, Willie Spence, Alyssa Wray, Caleb Kennedy, Deshawn Goncalves, Chayce Beckham, and Cassandra Coleman have all made the Top 9. That leaves Madison Watkins, Ava August, Beane, and Hunter Metts in danger of elimination.

The final person rounding out the Top 9 is Hunter, which brings Madison, Ava, and Beane's Idol journey to an end.

And now comes that twist! The Top 9 will become the Top 10 as one of 2020's Idol class will be able to join the competition. Tune in Monday at 8|7c for The Comeback and make sure to vote for your favorites!
