Rising star Pepi Sonuga is best known to audiences as Lacey on "Ash vs. Evil Dead," and can be seen this spring on Freeform's Famous in Love," where she plays Tangey, a rising singer caught in a struggle between her manager-mother and the boy who broke her heart.
Sonuga's television credits include "General Hospital," "The Fosters," "Cheerleader Death Squad" and "Filthy Preppy Teen$." Prior to her TV work, she filmed "Life of a King" opposite Cuba Gooding Jr.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Sonuga has dreamt of pursuing acting since age nine. Her parents come from rival tribes and their marriage represents a rebellion from their respective upbringings, as well as a distinct commitment to each other. Sonuga is a product of this defiance which imbued in her a keen awareness and openness to all cultures and people. She hopes to return to Nigeria one day and build new schools with western-educated teachers who can educate and empower a generation of new leaders.
A passion for reading and writing sits at the core of Sonuga's love for storytelling as an actor. She hopes to bring this lust for narrative and truth to the screen someday, as one of Africa's most power female rulers in history, Queen Nefertiti.
