5 Times Viola Davis Proved She Earned that Emmy for HTGAWM

Emmy award winning Viola Davis left us on the edge of our seats  during every Annalise Keating scene in the first season of How to Get Away with Murder.  Her 2015 emmy for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series was undeniable.  While it's difficult to name one scene that can show why she deserved the 2015 Emmy, we found five scenes that prove she earned that Emmy.

1.  When Annalise Made Us Fear for Her Life
Annalise may have had her suspicions about her husband but she knows how to hide it.  She makes us fear for her life and at the next turn she controls the situation while hiding her true feelings.

 


2.  When Annalise Dropped Bombshells Like a Pro

Annalise takes her time to methodically get ready for bed.  She keeps her cool before dropping one of the biggest bombshells of the season.




3.  When Annalise Made Us Want to Join Her Team

In the first episode, Wes had doubts about how he earned his spot in the Keating Five.  Annalise's analysis on Wes was spot on and made him reconsider everything.

 




4.  When Annalise Found Out Sam Was Killed

Viola delivered a jaw dropping series of events that helped explain how all of the events took place the night Sam was murdered.  She took us from feeling remorsefe over her husband's death to suspense on how they should get rid of Sam's body.

 



5.  When Annalise Showed Us the Internal Struggle with her Mother

An argument over Sam's suits opened up a bigger discussion about Annalise's past.  Her mother (guest star Cicely Tyson) gets into a heated argument with Annalise about her beginnings and her real name Anna Mae.
