L. Scott Caldwell stars as Nanda on Freeform's highly anticipated limited series "Love in the Time of Corona." Nanda, a headstrong woman whose husband is unable to return home from his rehab facility, is determined to celebrate her fiftieth wedding anniversary.

A Chicago native, L. Scott Caldwell is an award-winning actress, best known for her roles as Rose in the hit series "Lost" and the iconic film "The Fugitive." She started her career as a member of the famed Negro Ensemble Company, mentored by Douglas Turner Ward. Performing in over 30 new plays, she made her Broadway debut in the Tony® nominated play "Home," creating 11 characters. She continued to hone her craft starring in productions on Broadway, off-Broadway and at major regional companies across the nation.

Caldwell has received numerous accolades for stage work. She received the Tony Award for August Wilson's "Joe Turner's Come And Gone," directed by Lloyd Richards; the Helen Hayes and Dramalogue Awards for Neil Simon's "Proposals," his first play starring an African American; the Obie and Lucille Lortel Awards for Lee Blessings' "Going To St. Ives," playing the mother of an African dictator; the Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for "Raisin In The Sun"; the Ruby Dee Award playing Madame CJ Walker in "The Dreams Of Sarah Breedlove" at the Goodman Theater.

Other stage work includes the role of Lady Macbeth alongside Carl Lumbly, "Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin," "The Wife Story" at Los Angeles Sci-fi Fest, "What I Learned in Paris" at the Colony Theater and the world premieres of works by Athol Fugard and Wole Soyinka.

Caldwell's film credits include "Concussion" with Will Smith, "The Perfect Guy," "Division 19," "The Lamp," "Like Dandelion Dust," "Gridiron Gang" playing Dwayne Johnson's mom, "Waiting to Exhale," "Twilight Man," "Down Came A Blackbird" with Vanessa Redgrave, "Mystery Alaska," "Dragonfly," "Devil In The Blue Dress," "The Net," "Dutch" and "God Bless the Child" playing Mos Def's mom. She also starred in the first feature filmed in a democratic free South Africa, "Soweto Green" with John Kani.

Caldwell's television work includes roles in TV movies, movies of the week and episodic series as a series regular, recurring and many guest-starring roles, including "How to Get Away with Murder," "Queen Sugar," "Dynasty," "The Last Tycoon," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Mercy Street," "Madame Secretary," "Low Winter Sun," "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and the South African drama "Jozi H," for which she received a Gemini nomination.

She is currently recurring as Simone Missick's mother on the CBS series "All Rise," HBO's "Insecure," "Sacred Lies," "A Million Little Things" and "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina."

Caldwell is a sought-after speaker and acting coach. She has served on the National Board of SAG and Sag AFTRA, the National Chair of the Women's Committee & Healthcare Safety Net committee and is a member of the Diversity Advisory Committee.
