Trailblazing Chef Inspires Young Culinary Talent of Color
Virtue is one of the most popular restaurants in Chicago, fans even include people like Former President Barack Obama. At Virtue, Chef Erick Williams serves inspired Southern cuisine, but just as important as the food, is Chef Williams’ devotion to helping inspire others to find their path in culinary arts. When Williams set out in fine dining, he says he was often the only African American in the kitchen. But he works to chip away at that disparity by mentoring young men and women of color in his restaurants.
