What are Knitted Knockers? Knitted Knockers is a funny name for something that can help heal the emotional scars of breast cancer. They are light, soft handmade breast prosthetics offering comfort and support to women who have had mastectomies. After a mastectomy, many women suffer physical and emotional trauma. But for one group of Latina breast cancer survivors in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, knitting knockers bring joy and hope and a “close-knit” bond of friendship.
