Actor Biography
Jasika Nicole studied musical theater, dance and studio art at Catawba College in North Carolina before heading to New York City to begin her career in the performing arts. After several off-Broadway productions in New York, she landed the coveted role of Nicolette in Chasing Nicolette at the Prince Music Theatre, earning a Barrymore nomination for Best Actress. She transitioned to television and film shortly after starring opposite Antonio Banderas in the ballroom dance movie Take the Lead and eventually landing the fan-favorite role of Astrid Farnsworth on Fox's sci-fi drama Fringe. She has joined the casts of ABC's Scandal as Huck's wife, Kim, and WGN's acclaimed show Underground, playing feisty abolitionist Georgia.
Nicole has lent her voice talents to several animated shows including Adventure Time, Justice League and We Bare Bears, but is best known for her work as the narrator on WTNV's popular podcast Alice Isn't Dead. She received an Earphones Award for her narration of the audiobook of the same name.
In addition to performing, Nicole is a published writer and illustrator and is a prolific maker. She handmakes all of her clothing, passionately discusses the intersectionality of race, crafting and feminism throughout her creative endeavors.
