Rolando Chusan emigrated from Ecuador at the age of 3 and lives in the South Bronx. He started acting at an early age in public school after-school programs as preparation for the very competitive New York "Fame" high school, Fiorello H. Laguardia.
Chusan graduated from Hunter college in 2013 with a degree in theater and chose to continue to pursue acting at the Maggie Flanigan studio. He was accepted into professional acting programs by the Labyrinth Theater Company (2019 intensive ensemble) and the Disney Television Discovers (2020 showcase.
The oldest of four siblings, Chusan is an immigrant and proud to represent dreamers of humble origins in his series regular debut. His mother, factory worker-turned-social worker, is Ecuadorian; and Rolando's father, a security guard-turned-teaching assistant, is of Ecuadorian origin and Chinese ancestry.
Chusan is a writer whose work has been performed at the Labyrinth Theater Company's Barnyard series, The Ecuadorian American Cultural Center and, most recently, on a theatrical project (via Zoom), sponsored by The Tank NYC, for a COVID-19 relief charity (9hugs).
