Actor Biography
John Carroll Lynch has worked with some of the great filmmakers of our time, including Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, Clint Eastwood, Miguel Arteta, Karyn Kusama, Requa & Ficarra, John Lee Hancock, Pablo Lorain, and the Coen Brothers (who cast him opposite Francis McDormand in 1995's Academy Award®-winning film "Fargo.") He will next be seen as David Dellinger in Aaron Sorkin's film "The Trial of the Chicago 7" on Netflix.
On television, Lynch has appeared as characters that are sweet, funny, terrifying, quirky, confused, serious and moving. Highlights include two iconic roles on "American Horror Story" (Twisty the Clown and Mr. Jingles), "The Walking Dead," "Carnivale," "Big Love," "The Drew Carey Show," and most recently as the villainous lead in Craig Zobel's "One Dollar," the comic nemesis in "Perfect Harmony" and Jonah's earnest stepfather in the final season of "Veep."
Lynch's early career was mostly spent working in the theater. His directorial debut, "Lucky," was released in 2018 and received accolades both for the film and its star, the late Harry Dean Stanton.
