Celebrate Black History Month on ABC, Freeform and FX

February marks Black History Month in the United States and ABC is honored to host some of the best and brightest of Black creativity in television today. A new generation of Black actors and writers are showing their promise with shows like grown-ish and Abbott Elementary, just as the generation before them did with genre-definers like black-ish, Pose, and Atlanta, to name only a few. Find out more about Black life in America today with Soul of a Nation, a non-fiction anthology series about topics like faith and joy which is hosted by a collection of talented Black artists such as Marsai Martin, Taraji P. Henson and Jemele Hill. Check out the full Black History collection to see all the content that's available year-round on ABC.com and read on to see the top picks from ABC, Freeform, and FX.

ABC

Celebrate the work of Black creatives like Quinta Brunson, whose debut sitcom Abbott Elementary has taken the world by storm thanks to its witty humor and timely commentary on the underfunding of public schools in the US. The final season of black-ish is also airing now, with a guest appearance from the one and only Michelle Obama! Catch up with the whole series now and watch new episodes on ABC.

If you'd like to learn more about Black history and its impact on life in America today, ABC has several historical documentaries and dramas available. Specials like Juneteenth: Together We Triumph explore the history of slavery and emancipation in the US, which can be accompanied by the panel discussion about Juneteenth hosted by the stars of black-ish. Women of the Movement is a new series which tells the true story of Mamie Till-Mobley and her fight for justice after the murder of her son, Emmett, in 1955. Led with beautiful strength by Adrienne Warren, this moving series is available to watch on ABC.com

If you're looking for some musical entertainment, ABC's new show Queens is for you. It tells the story of four women who try to recapture the fame and success they had as hip-hop stars in the 1990s. With women supporting women and some great dance numbers, this show is not to be missed!

Freeform

Craving more hilarious and addictive TV from Black creators? Freeform has what you need. grown-ish, the black-ish spin-off that follows Zoey Johnson's journey through college, airs Thursdays at 10|9c on Freeform. Tune in to find out how Zoey handles graduation and the biggest decisions of her life so far! There's also Good Trouble, the continuation of Callie and Mariana's story from The Fosters. In this ensemble series we see stories like that of Malika, who gets involved in Black Lives Matter activism and fights for community justice through non-profit work.

You can also watch Freeform's Webby Award-winning digital series Black People Like…, in which a panel of Black critics and creators discusses the impact (and often exclusion) of Black people in certain areas of pop culture. Moderators include Ira Madison III, Ify Nwadiwe, and Moni Oyedepo, and the panelists cover topics like therapy, veganism, rock music, and nerd culture. The series was created to dispel stereotypes about the Black community and center Black joy, so it's full of great recommendations for further content to enjoy.

FX

There are countless shows to discover (or re-watch on Hulu!) on FX, such as Atlanta, Snowfall and Pose. The latter made history last month, when MJ Rodriguez became the first trans woman to win a Golden Globe, for her performance as Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista. Atlanta returns for season 3 on March 24, so why not re-watch the first two seasons of this hit show - or catch up if you missed it the first time around! Atlanta was created by Donald Glover, who also stars as Earn, the manager to an aspiring rapper. Earn is also doing what he can to be a good father to his child and a good man to his partner, Vanessa, while striving for success in the music business. Catch up with all the drama on FX this month, just in time for the new season.

Celebrate Black History Month with great programming across ABC, Freeform, and FX this February.
