Hillary Clinton Discusses New Book & Election Loss on The View

Hillary Clinton's new book "What Happened" is a candid memoir about her experiences as the Democratic Party's nominee for President of the United States in the 2016 election. Clinton sat down with The View co-hosts today (Wednesday September 13, 2017 episode) where she opened up about moving on from that faithful night and her thoughts on the current state of the world. The co-hosts took the opportunity to ask Clinton all their burning questions and no topic was off limits.

"I would have won but for Jim Comey's letter," Clinton says about her loss to Donald Trump on election night. "That stopped my momentum. It really did cause enough people to move away from me. Some of them moved to Trump, some moved to third parties, some didn't vote, but the net effect was pretty clear."

In "What Happened," Clinton accepts her role in the loss but also acknowledges how others hindered the cause. In particular Senator Bernie Sanders, whom Clinton defeated in the Democratic Primary. On the show, co-host Sunny Hostin brought up the fact that the Republican party bills itself as "the party of family values" however, many Republicans have been very critical of Hillary staying in her marriage to President Bill Clinton despite infidelity accusations. Critics claim it is a marriage of political convenience as opposed to saying staying in a marriage despite problems is a a family value. Clinton responds in her book and addresses the matter in the clip from the show below.
