Watch the "Good Morning America - Southeast Strong: Help After Helene" Special Initiative
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, ABC News' "Good Morning America" is set to provide five days of special coverage titled "Southeast Strong: Help After Helene" (#SoutheastStrongABC). This special initiative aims to spotlight communities across the southeast impacted by Hurricane Helene as well as their recovery efforts. Beginning Friday, Oct. 4, "Good Morning America" will broadcast live from Asheville, North Carolina, and showcase the stories of neighbors helping neighbors after the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.
"Our planned coverage will not only spotlight the strength and resilience of those affected but also aims to encourage viewers to participate in the recovery efforts following one of the most devastating storms to ever impact the area," said Simone Swink, executive producer of "Good Morning America."
ABC News correspondents Will Reeve, Morgan Norwood and WTVD (Raleigh, North Carolina) reporter Tamara Scott will join "GMA" live Friday, Oct. 4. Gio Benitez will co-anchor "GMA"'s Saturday and Sunday broadcasts from Asheville. Additionally, reporting will continue across the region with chief meteorologist and chief climate correspondent Ginger Zee joining "GMA" on Monday and Tuesday from Hurricane Helene's path of destruction.
