American Idol 2019 Week 4 Recap: Hollywood Week Videos & Highlights
With auditions behind them, American Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, host Ryan Seacrest, and all golden-ticket-carrying contestants head to The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles for Hollywood Week. Tensions are high as this year's crop of hopefuls first battle it out in the "Line of Ten" solos, then the group rounds, and then those who survive, go on to solo performances. Helping to guide them through the rigorous week was American Idol's in-house mentor Bobby Bones. Check out the highlights from Episode 6 and Episode 7 below, including a surprise proposal that makes Katy ugly-cry, and the dreaded eliminations.
A Returning Favorite
Louisiana boy Laine Hardy is back for the second year in a row and, as judge Katy Perry said, he's "been eating his vegetables." With another year of maturity and performing in his voice, he's poised to go even farther this year as his Line of Ten solo performance shows.

An Emotional Tribute
Dimitrius Graham was chasing his dream during Hollywood Week, but back home, his mother was about to go into surgery. He asked the judges to hold his phone for him so he could perform in front of his mom from her hospital bed. His emotional rendition of Bette Midler's "The Wind Beneath My Wings" was beautiful and there wasn't a dry eye in the theater.

A Group Effort
Of all the rounds of Hollywood Week, the Group round may be the toughest, giving performers only a single night to form cohesive groups, learn a song and choreography, and perform the very next morning. Making things even harder, Unexpected Vibe member Shayy wasn't able to read the lyrics of her group's song due to her eyesight. But the group came together around her and, with the help of Shayy's mom, performed a harmonious rendition of the Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way" that had everyone cheering and Lionel overwhelmed with emotion.
A Surprise Proposal
Katy Perry can't help but ugly-cry along with this incredibly romantic surprise, pulled off by Johanna Jones's boyfriend.
