The Bachelorette 2018 Recap Week 9: Becca Picks Her Final 2 Men
Bachelorette Becca Kufrin and her three remaining suitors—Blake, Garrett, and Jason—made the long trip to Thailand for Week 9 of The Bachelorette 2018 to continue Becca's quest to find true love. All three guys were falling for her, and she was falling for all three of them, but the tricky thing about dating three guys at once on The Bachelorette is that you can't just keep dating all three of them forever. (Theoretically that applies to dating three guys at once NOT on the show, too.) So during, or perhaps as a result of, her valiant attempts to avoid hurting any of the men, Becca suffered a dramatic breakdown while on her date with one unlucky guy, and sent him home right there on the spot. And perhaps even more dramatically, that same guy later showed up at her hotel room to re-plead his case. You can watch The Bachelorette season 14, episode 9 right here on ABC.com or in the ABC app, or read on for highlights and to find out who went home on The Bachelorette!
Thailand Date #1: Blake
Blake has told Becca he's in love with her, and though Becca hasn't yet said those magic words to Blake, she informed us, the smart, good-looking audience (you're welcome), that she's in love with him too. The pair journeyed to a Buddhist temple where they received relationship counseling from a monk, and learned the four tenets of a successful coupling: honesty, adaptation/compromise, patience, and giving. Thankfully, neither Blake nor Becca was shocked by this list, which bodes well, although Becca did quip that her last relationship with Arie Luyendyk Jr. turned out to be lacking in the honesty department.
Yes, yes...love, happiness, etc., etc., but Becca has a serious question for Blake. It essentially boils down to, Sure, you're having fun, but at the end of this, will you be ready to fully commit and build a future together? The meat of his response is this big, fancy quote below:
Becca, who of course just recently had her fiance call "backsies" on his marriage proposal, was quite pleased with Blake's answer. His reward was a card inviting him to stay with Becca in the Fantasy Suite for the night, which he accepted. So basically, everything is good in BlakeBeccaLand.
Thailand Date #2: Jason
Next up was Buffalo's favorite Sr. Corporate Banker, Jason. Becca kicks off the date by once again reminding us that Jason is her good-time date guy, and she basically just can't have a bad time when he's around. And good times pretty much always involve eating insects, so naturally, that was the first stop on their date:

Remember how Becca always has a good time with Jason? Well, that's true...until it isn't:
Becca freaks out while considering her future with Jason
Becca is starting to question the idea of a future with Jason, which isn't usually a good sign for a long-term relationship that will largely play out in said future. Jason is well aware of the awkward moment, and at dinner that night, he asks where her head is at, which opens the floodgates that he feared, with the severity of the emotions pushing Becca once again to take a moment away to regroup. When she returns, it doesn't get any better for him:
Becca tells Jason that her heart's not in it 100%
And that's that for Jason. Oof.
Thailand Date #3: Garrett
Garrett and Becca have a nice time on their date. They go rafting and have a pleasant dinner wherein they admit to enjoying each other's company and then spend the night in the Fantasy Suite.
Does it sound like we're trying to get this section over with so we can move on to something more dramatic? Well, you're right. (See, this is why we call you the smart, good-looking audience.)
To wit:
Jason Returns
Jason may have been sent home, but he wasn't ready to actually go there yet. He felt like he didn't get the closure he needed, and didn't want to let Becca go without a fight. He cruises over to Becca's hotel room and knocks on the door to see if there's any chance he could change her mind about letting him go. After sending Jason home, Becca had spent most of the evening and following morning crying and agonizing over her decision. But as the day went on, she felt confident she'd made the right choice. Would Jason showing up at her door prompt her to change her mind?

As it turned out, it didn't. For his part, Jason was very mature and thoughtful throughout, thanked her for the time he had with her, and gave her a parting gift—a scrapbook of their journey together.
Next week, Becca will face the bachelors that she's let go this season, and the guys will settle old scores with each other—expect some fireworks from Jordan and David—and dish on Becca's two remaining men. Don't miss The Bachelorette MONDAYS 8|7c on ABC!
