American Idol 2018 Recap: Top 5 Contestants Revealed

American Idol 2018 celebrated the one and only Prince tonight, with the Top 7 contestants each performing a song from his catalog. In addition, each of the young American Idol contestants performed a song from the year they were born. To top it off, the one and only Nick Jonas stepped in to be the mentor of the week to help the contestants step their game up. Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan helped celebrate and give critiques after each performance. Once again America's Vote took place during the show, with two of the Top 7 seeing their American Idol journey come to an end. At this stage of the competition, the eliminations get harder and harder and this week was no exception.

Michael J. Woodard worked the entire stage for his performance of Prince and The Revolution's "I Would Die 4 U" and it had the crowd cheering.

To perform her rendition of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U," Maddie showed off her skills at the piano combined with her distinct vocals.
