Doug Flutie's Dancing with the Stars Journey

Doug Flutie's Dancing with the Stars Journey

Doug Flutie is the 1984 Heisman Trophy winner known for the famous “Hail Mary” pass against Miami. It was a whole new ballgame for Doug on Dancing with the Stars as he joined the cast in Season 22 with pro partner Karina Smirnoff. He came up a little short with his Week 6 elimination after he did a Bollywood routine on "Famous Dances" Night. Nevertheless, Doug Flutie made the most of his time in the ballroom getting better each week just like he used to do on the gridiron. Check out Doug's Dancing Journey now!

Opening Night: On the “Season Premiere,” Doug did the Foxtrot to “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond. They play that song a lot at Fenway Park. Makes sense that Doug would feel at home with this tune, as he dedicated his dance to good people of New England.

Making Mom & Dad Proud: During "Most Memorable Year" Night, Doug did a touching Waltz to “Rainbow Connection” by Charla Corn. It was a tribute to Doug’s father and mother, who had died within a short time of each other. A misty-eyed Carrie Ann declared that this is how Doug’s parents live on. See his emotional dance on more time.

Poppin Up: On "Disney Night," Doug did a Jazz routine to “A Spoonful of Sugar” from Mary Poppins. There were a few technical issues that caused some problems at the beginning of the dance, but Doug powered through. Carrie Ann saw there was great intention with the routine, but he didn’t quite pull it off. Len agreed that he got out of sync.

Heavens to Murgatroyd: Doug went into the "Switch Up Challenge" with a brand new partner in the form of Peta Murgatroyd. Just his luck being paired with the fiancee of guest judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy!

From Hollywood to Bollywood: Doug and Karina went Bollywood with their routine to “Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire. Not even the pro dancer on this team had ever danced in this genre. Nevertheless, the pair embraced the moment.

Doug Says Goodbye: His run on Dancing with the Stars wasn't as long as his career on the football field, but Doug Flutie proved he's up for any challenge. See his gracious goodbye as his Dancing Journey came to an end.
