Dancing with the Stars 2016: Season 22 Premiere Recap!

The biggest dance party on the planet is back with the Dancing with the Stars 2016 Season Premiere! Head judge Len Goodman makes his triumphant return as 12 teams take the ballroom by storm in the quest for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy in Season 22, Week 1. Which stars shined brightest on opening night? Let’s find out right here, right now with a Dancing with the Stars recap featuring the Season 22 cast in The Glitter Report!

America’s Next Top Dancer: Nyle DiMarco & Peta Murgatroyd did a Cha Cha to “Cake by the Ocean”by DNCE. Since Nyle is deaf, Peta learned sign language to help communicate with her new partner, and it paid off. Nyle can’t hear anything at all, but still totally nailed his first dance. Bruno had to touch Nyle to make sure he was real suggesting he could be America’s Next Top Dancer. See why!

Sunny Skies Ahead: Ginger Zee & Valentin Chmerkovskiy did the Jive to “Move” from the musical “Dreamgirls.” The forecast for Ginger’s dancing future looks pretty sunny after her first dance. Bruno was impressed as was Carrie Ann, who compared her infectious nature last season’s champ, Bindi Irwin. Can you see the similarities?

Say Cheesesteak: Wanya Morris & Lindsay Arnold performed a Cha Cha to “Motownphilly”by Boyz II Men. Wanya served up some cheesesteaks to the judges to possibly make their hands too greasy to hold up the lower numbered paddles. That was never going to happen after this routine!

The Sweetin Life: Jodie Sweetin & Keo Motsepe did the Tango to “Confident” by Demi Lovato. Jodie wanted her Full House fans to see her for what she is today. Carrie Ann was impressed with Jodie’s attention to detail, but wondered about what looked to be a snarl emanating from her. Check it out!

A Fields Day: Kim Fields & Sasha Farber performed a Cha Cha to “Sax” by Fleur East. Len thought the routine was crisp and sharp, but Kim needs to work the hips more. Bruno agreed, adding that she needs to concentrate on the footwork. Carrie Ann liked Kim’s “fierceness in a tiny package.” See why!

Last Dance: Von Miller & Witney Carson did a Foxtrot to “My House” by Flo Rida to end the evening. There were chants of MVP after Von did his dance. The crowd went wild and the judges were equally impressed. Well, maybe not Len.

There were no eliminations in Week 1, so everyone will be back for Latin Night in Week 2. Make sure that you come back as well MONDAY, MARCH 28 8|7c on ABC!
