The Red Carpet is always a highly anticipated focal point of the Oscars ceremony, and Oscars 2021 was no exception in this regard. Bold strokes of gold and red were seen in the outfits of many attendees, such as Leslie Odom Jr. and Angela Bassett, as well as some ensembles curated as homages to previous Oscar red carpet looks. Here are a few highlights of the fashion showcased at this year's award ceremony.
Angela Bassett arrived in a stunning red Alberta Ferretti off-the-shoulder gown with full, draped organza shoulders, a high slit and long train.
Leslie Odom Jr. turned heads with his head-to-toe gilded Brioni suit, paired with Cartier jewelry and an Omega watch.
H.E.R. paid tribute to Prince's 1985 Oscar look with a custom Dundas purple beaded jumpsuit, paired with Chopard jewelry.
Glenn Close stayed timeless in a custom blue Giorgio Armani couture two-piece tunic and gloves.
Laura Dern arrived in style wearing a playful Oscar de la Renta feathered mixed-media gown, which drew light-hearted comparisons to Bjork's 2001 swan gown.
Riz Ahmed made his Academy Award red carpet debut with his wife, Fatima Farheen Mirza, staying classic in an all-black Prada suit and collared shirt. Ahmed and his wife shared a touching moment when he fixed her hair on the red carpet, calling himself her "official groomer."
Viola Davis shone bright on the red carpet in a custom Alexander McQueen white sleeveless dress.
