New to The Bachelor? This glossary provides a general guideline of how the show is typically structured. There are often variations of the format as love is not predictable and neither is the show!

Limo Arrivals – During the season premiere, the Bachelor stands outside the mansion as the women vying for his love cascade out of the limo using everything from puns to props to make a memorable first impression.

First Impression Rose – If one is given, this is the first rose presented during the season premiere of The Bachelor and is bestowed upon the woman who makes (you guessed it) the best first impression on the Bachelor. Typically, this rose is given out before the first rose ceremony and guarantees that the recipient will make it to the next week in the journey to find love.

Date Card - A date card is the official invitation from the Bachelor to join him on a 1-on-1 date, 2-on-1 date, or group date. The date card usually gives a small hint as to what the date will involve.

Group Dates – Select groups of women go on a date and partake in an activity with the Bachelor in hopes of receiving the group date rose (see below).  Whoever captivates the Bachelor, receives extra time with him.

Group Date Rose - With several women vying for the Bachelor's attention on a group date, the Bachelor decides who he felt he connected with the most and may give out a rose. This rose is usually given out at the end of the date and guarantees that the recipient will not be sent home during the next rose ceremony.

2-on-1 Dates - The dreaded 2-on-1. This happens when the Bachelor chooses two women to join him on a date.  At the conclusion of the date, there can be multiple outcomes: one rose may be given out, both women go home or both remain.

Rose Ceremony – Typically during The Bachelor episodes, a progression of true love is seen and the Bachelor may say goodbye to those he does not feel a connection. Calling each woman by name, he asks "Will you accept this rose?"  The roses are given to the women he wishes to remain on a journey to find love and those who don't receive a rose immediately pack their bags to head home.

Last Four Women - This refers to the last four remaining women with the opportunity to win the Bachelor's heart.

Hometown Dates – After dating for a few weeks, the Bachelor visits the hometowns and families of the remaining women while entertaining the prospect of a marriage proposal in the near future.

Fantasy Suite – The Bachelor has the option to invite a few select women to spend the night with him for one-on-one alone time in the romantic "Fantasy Suite," typically towards the end of the season.

Final Rose - The Final Rose refers to the season finale of The Bachelor where he usually narrows his choice down to the final two women. Generally, he decides who will be chosen as the woman who has won his heart and this woman may receive the "final rose."

Women Tell All - The Women Tell All episode is a reunion where the Bachelor joins the women who were sent home throughout the season. The women reveal top moments from the show, bloopers are shared and tough questions are answered.

After The Final Rose This episode immediately follows The Bachelor finale. The Bachelor, the final rose recipient and the final woman he sent home join each other in a talk-show format.
