The Last Black-Owned LGBTQ+ Club in Manhattan Almost Had to Close Their Doors
“It’s very easy to find. There’s two big, rainbow flags near the door!” Alibi Lounge is the last black-owned gay club in Manhattan—but due to the COVID-19 shutdown, they were dangerously close to having to close for good, until a stranger stepped in to help. Alexi Minko wanted to start his own business to show other LGBTQ+ people of color that success is possible. As owner of the Alibi Lounge, he created a safe haven for members of the LGBTQ+ community to come together.
