This Minneapolis Restaurant Stepped Up To Help Their Community
“Pimento refuses to board up because we are not afraid of our community. We are a community.” Even after being threatened by white supremacists, Pimento Kitchen in Minneapolis has continued to feed and resupply protesters coming out to support the Black Lives Matter movement. As a former restaurant and bar, Pimento Kitchen’s owner, Tomme Beevas wanted to support his community instead of boarding up like all of the other restaurants on their street. Support came from staff and volunteers who donated supplies to keep protesters safe and also to keep the restaurant safe with many staying overnight to protect the storefront from looting.
