Soul Fire Farm: Uprooting racism in the U.S. food system with agriculture
“Racism and white supremacy is really built into the DNA of the U.S. food system,” Leah Penniman is the founder and co-director of Soul Fire Farm in Petersburg, New York, an afro-indigenous inspired community farm that is dedicated to uprooting racism in the American food system. By preserving the farming techniques of African and Indigenous communities, the collective offers programs where people of color can come learn how to start their own sustainable farms to join the fight against food discrimination in America.
