Special Olympic athletes surprise friend with 50th birthday parade
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot of our daily lives, including how we celebrate big moments. But Special Olympic athletes in Houston, Texas, didn’t want their friend Clarence to miss his 50th birthday. So, they surprised him with a special birthday parade, led by Harris County Precinct 4 deputies and the Spring Fire Department! Clarence is deaf, so he loved seeing the flashing lights. All of his friends and the first responders also signed “Happy Birthday” when they passed by. Clarence’s friends say the parade brought everyone together in a moment when so many of us are forced to be apart.
