17-Year-Old Artist Breaking Boundaries
At just 17, high school senior Jamila Thompson, is the youngest artist to be featured on the walls of the Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center. The Queens library seeks to promote arts appreciation through a dedicated art exhibit on the second story. Thompson was chosen as the featured artist for March, Women’s History Month. Thompson’s work explores various cultures with particular focus on African culture. She has been drawing and painting since elementary school and has received several awards for her work.
