Modern Family and Ty Burrell have received 2016 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy. Modern Family has received over 20 Emmy awards over the past 7 seasons. Up until last year, Modern Family had won for Outstanding Comedy Series 5 years in a row. Ty Burrell is nominated for a 2016 Emmy in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category. This is the seventh Emmy nomination for Burrell, who has previously won twice for his role as Modern Family's Phil Dunphy, in 2011 and 2013. Burrell's Phil Dunphy is the lovable and enthusiastic family man who always strives to be the "cool dad."
