John Travolta Explains His Idina Menzel Moment
On Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Oscars, the late night host welcomed John Travolta to his show for the first time ever. The show that launched Travolta's career in he '70s, Welcome Back Kotter was Jimmy's favorite TV show as a kid -- he even had the show's lunchbox. Jimmy tried to emulate Travolta and would even act out scenes from Grease with his friends. So it's pretty cool that Travolta thinks he and Jimmy look alike (if you just cover up Jimmy's chin).
Travolta enters with his Saturday Night Fever strut and admits that does like to dance at parties and that people kid of lose it when he does.
Travolta talks about the times he was nominated for an Oscar: First for Saturday Night Fever when he was only 23 and then for Pulp Fiction. And how both times, he was glad he didn't win.
The two talked about the infamous moment at last year’s Oscars when Travolta introduced Idina Menzel as Adele Nazeem. Travolta revealed that moments before his mistake live on air, he bumped into Goldie Hawn whose loveliness threw him off. So Jimmy thinks all blame goes to Goldie.
Jimmy also shares the first time he interviewed Travolta -- 19 years ago! He was just an unknown radio guy and no one would stop to talk to him, until Travolta did. "John Travolta saved my life that night!" Jimmy exclaims.
