DWTS 2016 Recap: Jodie Sweetin and Ginger Zee are Perfect!

The remaining Dancing with the Stars 2016 cast hit the ballroom floor once more during the "You Be the Judge" Week 8 Season 22 quarterfinals. The 6 remaining teams perform one solo routine and one team dance that was led by one of the three regular judges—Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. For those team dances, America became a 4th judge by taking the voting place of each regular judge when their routine was performed. Who came out on top in the quarterfinals and who moved on to the semis as the quest for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy nears its end? Let’s find out with the Dancing with the Stars recap and all the highlights in The Glitter Report!

Team Carrie Ann Reigns in the Rain: Paige & Mark and Antonio & Sharna did the Paso to “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Lorde. The intensity was on full display during a powerful routine that ended with rain pouring down on all the dancers. Both Bruno and Len were very impressed as were the fans at home. See why!

Team Len Caribbean Party: Ginger & Val and Wanya & Lindsay did the Samba to “Jump in the Line” by Harry Belafonte with a little assist from Len Goodman as a coach and participant. It was a Caribbean party time in the feel-good routine of the evening.

Team Bruno’s Great Partner Switch: Nyle & Peta and Jodie & Keo did the Argentine Tango to “Habanera” by Georges Bizet under the guidance of Bruno Tonioli. Len loved the concept as well as Bruno’s bravery in getting the couples to switch up throughout the routine. Carrie Ann knows that was not an easy dance and she was impressed at how in sync everyone was along the way.

The Perfect Exit: Jodie Sweetin & Keo Motsepe did the Jive to “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” by Christina Aguilera. Carrie Ann felt that this was Jodie’s best dance ever. All Bruno could see was goodness in this creative tour de force. Erin Andrews pointed out how happy Jodie looked after the dance, which happened to be her last solo effort.

Ginger’s Perfect Again: Ginger Zee & Valentin Chmerkovskiy did an Argentine Tango to “Telephone” by Martynas. Bruno was totally smitten by the performance. He felt she worked magic. Carrie Ann thought it was a mind-blowing routine where she felt two were dancing as one. Len called it “one helluva dance!” Three 10s for the second week in a row after her perfect waltz on "Icons Night."

Sounds of Silence: Nyle DiMarco & Peta Murgatroyd did a Paso to “Victorious” by Panic! At the Disco. There was an amazing moment where there was total silence in the middle of the dance. Len felt Nyle strutted out a little too much, but he is impressed with the purpose and confidence that is exhibited every week. Bruno felt this routine was a Dancing with the Stars classic that no one will ever forget. Carrie Ann agreed that she never saw anything that touched her so profoundly.

The Ice Queen: Paige VanZant & Mark Ballas did a Viennese Waltz to “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato. Paige was an ice queen in a risky routine that paid off big time. Len felt there were some issues with the holds, but he still feels Paige is a terrific dancer. Bruno felt it was both chilling and thrilling. Carrie Ann was impressed with the concept and execution that set her up to a higher level.
