American Idol 2018 Premiere Recap: Watch Audition Videos & Highlights
American Idol returned in style this week with the help of host Ryan Seacrest and new American Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. With American Idol now on America's network, ABC, it was time to get things started with the American Idol 2018 auditions. That famous bus toured across the United States looking for talent from all over and, as you can see from the week 1 audition videos, America did not disappoint. Some truly incredible voices—and some pretty unique ones, too—got their chance to sing for the judges and earn that coveted golden ticket to Hollywood. For a quick recap of the week, here are eight highlights you just won't want to miss!
1. Wig. Snatched.
Noah Davis brought his love of alpacas and his wig-based lexicon to his audition. While Lionel wasn't sure about alpacas and Luke had no idea what "wig" meant, Katy knew exactly what Noah was talking about. Fortunately, Noah also brought a stand-out performance of Rihanna's "Stay" that snatched Katy's wig and sent Noah with it to Hollywood.
2. Call Me, Honey
17-year-old Garrett Jacobs did his grandma, Honey, proud with his audition and even though she couldn't be there in-person, the judges made sure he got her on the phone to hear he was on his way to Hollywood!

3. A Manly Voice
Young Zach D'Onofrio may not sound like it when he speaks, but he's got a Sinatra-style singing voice that had judge Katy Perry dancing with him—and judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie dancing with each other!
4. Katy Perry's Wardrobe Malfunction
You can't keep Katy Perry off the dance floor. No, like, literally. Still, despite Katy Perry's American Idol wardrobe malfunction, Michelle Sussett was able to have one of the most fun auditions of the week.

5. Benjamin Glaze's First Kiss
An audition for American Idol is one thing, but getting your first kiss from Katy Perry already makes you a winner.
6. Katy's Looking for Love
To quote judge Luke Bryan, Trevor Holmes is a "dreamboat," and he's got a lot of the qualities that Katy is looking for in a guy: nice voice, loves his mom, great looks. But heartbreak strikes when he admits that, despite Katy being his long-time crush, he's already got a girl.

7. The Heart of Dyxie
Little Dyxie came in with her older sister, Layla Spring, for a bit of a duet that earned her a golden ticket of her own...for 2026!
8. Isn't She Lovely?
David Francisco has an inspiring story, but it was the love between him and his fiancé Christie expressed in his song that had judge Katy Perry in tears.
