DWTS 2019 Results: Week 3 - Movie Night

It was all glitz, glamor, and Hollywood in the ballroom as Dancing with the Stars went to the movies with Week 3 Movie Night! The celebrities and their dance pro partners celebrated the movies with ballroom dances to songs from their favorite films. As always, they performed in front of three expert critics, judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba, hoping to get rave reviews. So which star shined brightest on movie night? Lauren Alaina & Gleb
Country star Lauren Alaina and her partner Gleb Savchenko earned some good marks last week, and were hoping to improve with a sultry tango inspired by Pretty Woman. Once again she was called out for losing the musicality and having her arm and shoulder a little high, but the judges were impressed with her show opening performance.

Hannah Brown & Alan
This week, Hannah was inspired by her best friend's upcoming wedding to perform a rumba with her partner Alan Bersten to dance to Wilson Phillips' hit "Hold On" as featured in the hit comedy Bridesmaids. After setting the high score last week, she was called out for not having enough "hip action" in her rumba, even though she does well with the lyrical dancing.

Karamo & Jenna
Karamo and his partner Jenna Johnson set out to impress Len with a jive performed to Elton John's "I'm Still Standing." Carrie Ann noticed "a lot of mistakes" but the performance was entertaining and had the crowd jumping. Unfortunately, they still have yet to get more than a 5 from Len.

Ally Brooke & Sasha
Growing up a Mexican-American in San Antonio, Ally has always felt a connection to Selena, so she was inspired to dance a rumba with her partner Sasha Farber to Selena's "Dreaming of You." Len was impressed with all of the real rumba content, Bruno called it "beautiful" and Carrie Ann "had chills the whole time" and called it "exactly what we're looking for."

James Van Der Beek & Emma
After setting the high score in the season premiere and following up with a solid score in week 2, James and his partner Emma Slater set out to wow everyone with a seductive rumba to "Shallow" from A Star is Born. Bruno called James a "real gentleman" and Carrie Ann saw "so much poetry in the way [James] moved."

Kate Flannery & Pasha
After scoring the second-highest score of the night last week, the judges knew Kate and her partner Pasha Pashkov could work hard. So it was no surprise that Kate and Pasha danced a quickstep to Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" that got the ballroom cheering. Carrie Ann exclaimed "you're working hard and it is paying off," and Bruno shouted, "like the movie, this is a big hit!"

Lamar Odom & Peta
Last week was a rollercoaster for Lamar Odom and his partner, Peta Murgatroyd, and the two of them were determined to step it up this week. Dancing the cha cha to "Old Time Rock & Roll" from Risky Business, they started off strong, but had some rough spots later in the dance and didn't end up improving their score over last week.

Sailor Brinkley-Cook & Val
This week, Sailor and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy danced a fun and flirty tango to "Mamma Mia" hoping to incorporate the judges' comments about consistency and tone from week 2. Bruno called it "a great, feel-good tango," Carrie Ann called it "a transformation" and "a huge leap forward," and Len exclaimed it was "full of energy" and was "a fantastic routine."

Kel Mitchell & Witney
Comedic actor and self-proclaimed Leonardo DiCaprio fan Kel Mitchell had to bring the drama for a rumba with his partner Witney Carson to Celine Dion's Oscar-winning ballad "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic. Len had some issues, but called it "a good, solid performance" and Bruno warned Kel that too much intensity can affect fluidity.

Sean Spicer & Lindsay
Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has been campaigning for the audience's votes and the judges' scores, and this week partner Lindsay Arnold challenged him to channel John Travolta in a dance inspired by Saturday Night Fever. Len called the performance "more like 'Monday Night Lukewarm,'" but had to admit that Sean had "mastered the roly poly."

Second Elimination
Unfortunately, due to aggravating an old football injury, Ray Lewis and Cheryl Burke were forced to leave the competition this week. Ray danced hard in weeks one and two and brought a great sense of fun to the ballroom. With them stepping aside, no couple was eliminated this week.
