DWTS 2020 Recap: Week 2 - First Elimination
New host Tyra Banks and "Dancing with the Stars" 2020 returned to the ballroom for Week 2, with the 15 celebrity dancers facing the first live vote and elimination of the season! Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough's scores from Week 1: Season Premiere were combined with their scores from tonight, and the live viewers' votes to determine who would face elimination. Following up on their smooth debut during Week 1, Nev Jenna brought the rhythm to their Week 2 cha cha that had Bruno complimenting Nev on his "nimble" footwork and Carrie Ann remarking that Nev "once again impressed [her]."

Week 2 wasn't quite as smooth for Skai and Alan where a miscue cost them some precious points with the judges.

Johnny is a huge Lady Gaga fan, so he was thrilled when Britt told him they'd be dancing to "Poker Face."

Week 2 gave Justina and Sasha a chance to show off their chemistry in a flowing foxtrot that moved the judges, with Derek declaring that Justina is "such a natural dancer."

Monica and Val brought lot of fun to their Week 2 jive, but unfortunately there weren't enough kicks and flicks for the judges and some timing issues cost them in the judges' scores.

AJ and Cheryl had the high pressure of opening the show in Week 1, so this week they got to be a little more relaxed with a foxtrot that Carrie Ann called "smooth as silk."

Anne and Keo set out to impress the judges—and Anne's two sons—with their Week 2 foxtrot.

Week 1 had Nelly showing off a backflip, but Week 2 let him show off some great timing as he and Daniella impressed the judges with their cha cha.

Emotions ran high in the ballroom as Chrishell and Gleb danced their Week 2 rumba with passion and intensity.

Charles and Emma may have been near the bottom of the leaderboard in Week 1, but they kept a winning, positive attitude and brought it to their Week 2 cha cha.

Jesse and Sharna followed up an impressive Week 1 debut with a lovely Week 2 foxtrot that scored well despite dividing the judges a bit.

Week 2 was another wild one for Jeannie and Brandon and their cha cha. While they of course wanted to impress the judges, they knew they had to make Jeannie's mom proud.

Week 1 had Carole and Pasha at the bottom of the leaderboard, but Week 2 was a big improvement that impressed the judges.

A challenging paso doble awaited Vernon and Peta in Week 2, but they attacked it with intensity, notching a slight improvement over their Week 1 outing.

It was a tough Week 2 for Kaitlyn and Artem after she injured her ankle during rehearsals, but Kaitlyn was determined to come out and dance as long as she was cleared. The two of them delivered a lovely, lyrical foxtrot that wowed the judges and put them tied for first place on the combined Week 1 and 2 leaderboard.

The First Elimination
After each pair finished their Week 2 performances, it was time for the big reveal: who was going to be the first celebrity eliminated on "Dancing with the Stars" 2020. It all came down to Carole and Pasha vs. Charles and Emma, with the judges deciding which couple to save. Carrie Ann chose Carole and Pasha and Bruno chose Charles and Emma. With the deciding third vote, Derek chose to save Carole and Pasha, and we said goodbye to Charles Oakley and partner Emma Slater.
