DWTS Season 27 Results: Week 1

On Dancing with the Stars Part 1 of the Season 27 premiere, a brand-new cast of celebrities made their ballroom debuts. From American Idol mentor Bobby Bones, to Danelle Umstead -- the show's first-ever blind contestant -- to Grocery Store Joe of Bachelor in Paradise fame, to Harry Potter series actress Evanna Lynch, this season's stars are a diverse bunch. Here's a recap of their very first night on the dance floor, including their scores and exactly what judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli had to say.

Mary Lou Retton & Sasha Farber's Cha Cha: A very relaxed Mary Lou opened the show with an energetic Cha Cha. Len Goodman praised her terrific confidence, and Mary Lou's scores were 6 from Carrie Ann, a 7 from Len, and a 6 from Bruno, for a total of 19 points out of 30.

Milo Manheim & Witney Carnson's Cha Cha: Milo impressed the judges with his tall stature and good posture, and his scores were a 7 from Carrie Ann, 6 from Len, and 7 from Bruno, for a total of 20 out of 30 possible points.

Evanna Lynch & Keo Motsepe's Foxtrot: Len didn't find Evanna's Foxtrot as magical as Carrie Ann did. Evanna and Keo got a 7 from Carrie Ann, a 5 from Len, and a 6 from Bruno, for a total of 18 points.

Danelle Umstead & Artem Chigvintsev's Foxtrot: Tom revealed that Danelle had kept her husband from watching any of their practices, so this was the first time he saw his wife dance! Danelle and Artem scored three 6s from the judges, for a total of 18.

Bobby Bones & Sharna Burgess's Jive: Bruno called Bobby's first dance "exquisitely demented." Bobby and Sharna earned a 7, a 6, and a 7, for a total of 20.

Nikki Glaser & Gleb Savchenko's Salsa: "It wasn't a total trainwreck," Bruno told Nikki after her Salsa, which was also panned by Len. A kinder Carrie Ann had words of encouragement for Nikki, and her total score was 17, a 6 from Carrie Ann, a 5 from Len, and a 6 from Bruno.

Alexis Ren & Alan Bersten's Jive: Alexis and Alan wowed the judges with their Jive, which Len said had a lot of attack. He called it brilliant! The pair received three 7s for a total score of 21.

John Schneider & Emma Slater's Foxtrot: Carrie Ann Inaba told John he has a natural elegance and charm that will suit the competition well. Len called it "a bit rough" but admitted it was a good effort. John and Emma got a 7 from Carrie Ann, a 5 from Len, and a 6 from Bruno, for 18 points total.

Tinashe & Brandon Armstrong's Jive: Len praised the "snap, crackle, and pop" in Tinashe's first routine, which earned her the top score of the night with a 23: an 8 from Carrie Ann, a 7 from Len, and another 8 from Bruno!

DeMarcus Ware & Lindsay Arnold's Cha Cha: The judges raved about DeMarcus's presence on the dance floor, praising his ability to exude strength yet stay light on his feet. The scores reflected their kind words, as he tied for the top score of the night with a 23, earning an 8 from Carrie Ann, 7 from Len, and 8 from Bruno.
