Dancing with the Stars Recap: Bindi Irwin's Dirty Dancing Earns Her a Perfect Score!

Welcome to the official Dancing with the Stars recap for Season 21, Week 6 “Famous Dances Night” episode (original airdate October 19, 2015). The nine remaining teams took on some of the most iconic dances of all time. So it’s fitting that one of the most iconic stars of all time, Olivia Newton-John, joined the fun as a guest judge. Let’s get to the highlights!

Nobody Puts Bindi in a Corner: Bindi Irwin & Derek Hough did the Rumba to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing. Jennifer Grey paid the team a visit during rehearsals. When it came time to hit the dance floor, Derek kicked off the routine by saying, “Nobody puts Bindi in a corner.” The judges were blown away by how the team captured all the nuances of the iconic movie moment. It was good enough for Bindi’s first perfect score of the season.

The pair nailed every detail of the iconic dance down to the famous lift. The judges gave the pair a perfect score of 40 points. From Week 6 of Season 21 of Dancing with the Stars.

 It’s Miss Braxton, If You’re Nasty: Tamar Braxton & Val Chmerkovskiy teamed up for a Jazz routine to “Rhythm Nation” by Janet Jackson paying tribute to her famed music video. The dance was slick, sharp and precise. Bruno complimented Tamar’s comeback performance. Carrie Ann felt she nailed in perfectly, as did Julianne. Guess that’s why they got a perfect 40, too.

Tamar Braxton Knocks Out Rhythm Nation|Tamar fiercely takes on Janet Jackson.|Tamar Braxton missing two rehearsal days due to illness certainly didn't show during her killer recreation of Janet Jackson's 1989 music video for Rhythm Nation. The singer knocked out the iconic dance and completely captured the essence of Jackson. The judges gave Tamar and partner Val Chmerkovskiy a perfect 40 out of 40 for the Jazz number. It’s in the Gene: Andy Grammer & Allison Holker did their Jazz routine to “Good Morning” from Singin’ in the Rain. The judges were thoroughly impressed at how this team reinvented such an iconic scene. Olivia Newton-John once danced with Gene Kelly and she said she’d be happy to dance with Andy anytime. The team reeled in all 10s giving Andy and Allison their first perfecto of the season.

Andy Grammer Gets Jazzy Singin In The Rain|Andy's happiness achieves perfection.|Andy Grammer and partner Allison Holker reinvented a famous tap routine from Singin' In The Rain. The judges gave the pair a standing ovation for the dance they deemed as flawless. The score reflected the judging comments being a 40 out of 40 possible points. Hayes Grier's Slick Grease Moves|Hayes impresses Olivia Newton John.|Hayes Grier might not have scored perfectly for his Jazz dance to You're The One That I Want from Grease, but succeeded in impressing guest judge Olivia Newton-John with his baby John Travolta qualities. The charismatic routine earned Hayes and partner Emma Slater a 32 out of 40. From Week 6 of Season 21 of Dancing with the Stars.

We Got Chills, They’re Multiplyin’: Hayes Grier & Emma Slater did their slick Jazz routine to “You’re the One That I Want” by John Travolta and guest judge Olivia Newton-John from the Grease soundtrack. The routine was truly rockin'. Olivia thought Hayes reminded her of John - as in Travolta!

Movie Dances Through the Decades: Carlos PenaVega got over his discomfort to turn in a fine Rumba to “Pony” from Magic Mike. He was followed by Nick Carter, who did a groovy Samba to “You Should Be Dancing” from Saturday Night Fever. Check out both routines below.

 

Famous Dances Night ended with Bindi, Tamar and Andy atop the leaderboard and Paula Deen exiting the ballroom. All remaining teams are back in action for Dancing with the Stars MONDAY 8|7c as the stars and pros try to scare up some more high scores on Halloween Night!
