A Web(ber) of Heartache: There's a reason the Chief recognized young intern Meredith Grey. He had an unforgettable affair with Meredith's mom, Dr. Ellis Grey, when Mer was just a child. Richard's marriage to Adele weathered all sorts of storms, from his affair with Ellis to his drinking problem. But the most serious issue they faced was Adele's battle with Alzheimer's. In a cruel twist of fate, both of the loves of Richard's life were diagnosed with the awful disease. Richard was there for Adele until she passed away.
