The Bachelorette 2019 Recap, Week 4: Luke S. Battles Luke P.

Last week, in Week 3 of The Bachelorette 2019, Bachelorette Hannah Brown made a big move letting Cam go, making it clear she wasn't going to be messing around with guys who might not be here for the Right Reasonstm. So what happens when a couple of the guys in the house get into an interminable squabble that distracts from the actual dating part? And one of them kinda sorta body slams the other? And one of them is Luke P., who Hannah really seems to like, so much so that he received the First impression Rose? Only two ways to find out, dear readers: you can stream The Bachelorette 2019 Week 4 here on ABC.com or in the ABC app, or read on for this week's highlights!

A Brave New (England) World

The group—Hannah and the 15 guys who remain—leaves the mansion for the first time this season, heading out to Newport, RI, to take in the sights and experiences of the northeast.

The first order of business was a 1-on-1 date with Jed, who has been getting a decent amount of attention from Hannah thus far. They walk around Boston, where they visit the bar from classic TV show Cheers and Hannah regales Jed with made-up historical facts. Then the pair visits the Boston Celtics practice facility where the pair hoops it up with the Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier:

Pretty solid romantic advice from Jaylen Brown right there! Later that night, Jed admits to Hannah that, initially, the idea of the show being a good platform for an aspiring musician is what drew him here, which is—gasp!—the Wrong Reasons! But he says that now that he's here, he really likes her and is excited to see where their relationship goes. Hannah praises his honesty, and Jed gets the date rose.

To Rugby or Not to Rugby

The group date was where things started to get wild. The guys met up to learn the basics or rugby, and then to play a little scrimmage against each other. The guys catch on pretty quick, and it gets physical immediately. (Obviously: It's rugby.) Kevin comes off the field with an injured shoulder, and is taken away in an ambulance.

And then it gets REALLY physical:

Luke P. claims it was in self-defense, but Luke S. is having none of it. At the cocktail party, Hannah grabs Luke P. first to discuss the incident, and he says Luke S. tried to attack him, came at him swinging. Then he says he has no issues with anyone in the house, and that Luke S. has always been talking about lots of things that aren't Hannah, including his budding tequila business. Luke S. calls Luke P. a psychopath, and the other guys pile on the Luke P. hate train.

Amidst all this, Garrett ends up with the group date rose, but everything is ultimately overshadowed by the Lukes' drama.

Under the Sea

The next day, Hannah is still shaken up by the conflicting stories she's been hearing, and breaks down in tears—all while she's waiting for Tyler C. to show up for their 1-on-1 date. When Tyler shows up, he does a great job of listening and eventually shakes Hannah out of her funk. They go out on a lobster boat and have a fresh lobster feast.

That night, she reveals that she thought Tyler was a bit of a player, but she feels his words and actions are matching up, and she likes it. He's definitely into her too, and he gets the date rose.

Luke vs. Luke 2: Electric Boogaloo

The cocktail party starts off normal enough, with everyone getting time to chat, and Peter has a sweet little moment with Hannah:

Cute! But it quickly gets less cute when the guys confront Luke P. over his recent behavior, with Mike leading the charge:

Yeesh. Not a lot of allies left in the house for ol' Luke P.

Let's also pause this recap for a minute, because boy are we tired of typing "Luke" over and over again. For the rest of this recap, they shall be known as simply "P" and "S" for simplicity's sake.

So. The guys tell P that he can't just say S is here for the Right Reasonstm, but that P has to say that what he told Hannah about S being there for the Wrong Reasons was incorrect. P says, sure thing, I'll do just that.

He does none of it.

In fact, he doubles down and says that he doesn't think S is here for the right reasons. That keeps Hannah confused about S's true motives, and S is worried. S has some very choice language for P, but also knows that he's at Hannah's mercy here.

So at this point, the entire group is piling on P, saying that he lied to everyone, he's a bad dude, etc. and so forth—and Hannah overhears the whole thing:

And that's where we leave off.

Next week will (hopefully) be the dramatic conclusion of the Clash of Lukes, and you'll find that in more in our Week 5 preview:
