Dancing with the Stars Winner 2016 Is Nyle DiMarco!
Nyle DiMarco became the Dancing with the Stars Winner for 2016 in the epic 2-hour Dancing with the Stars Finale where he and Peta Murgatroyd beat out the other Dancing with the Stars finalists Ginger Zee & Valentin Chmerkovskiy and Paige VanZant & Mark Ballas to take home the coveted Mirrorball Trophy (check out the recap). In one of the closest competitions ever, the top model won the ultimate battle of the ballroom. The fact that he's been deaf since birth made Nyle's season-long adventure one of the most memorable and mesmerizing feats in Dancing with the Stars history. Let's take a look back at Nyle DiMarco's incredible Dancing with the Stars 2016 journey.
America's Next Top Dancer: In the "Season Premiere," Nyle DiMarco & Peta Murgatroyd did a Cha Cha to "Cake by the Ocean"by DNCE. Since Nyle is deaf, Peta learned sign language to help communicate with her new partner, and it paid off. Nyle can't hear anything at all, but still totally nailed his first dance. Bruno had to touch Nyle to make sure he was real suggesting he could be America's Next Top Dancer. See why!
What the Hectic: On "Latin Night," Nyle DiMarco & Peta Murgatroyd did the Rumba to "Stole the Show" by Parson James. The beautiful, flowing routine had the crowd gasping throughout and cheering when it was done though Len felt the dance was too hectic.
Nyle Brings Smiles: For his "Most Memorable Year," Nyle & Peta did a Tango to "Verge" by Owl City featuring Aloe Blacc. Bruno felt like he was going to explode, as this was the dance he was waiting for. He awarded the first 9 of the season. Len pointed out that Nyle is proof that anyone can do anything if they want to. See what he's talking about.
Undressed for the Occasion: On "Disney Night," Nyle & Peta did a Samba to "Trashin' the Camp" from Tarzan. The King of the Jungle felt right at home in the ballroom doing a fantastic flip to kick things off. Bruno said the loincloth-wearing Nyle was "perfectly undressed for the occasion" and dubbed him "Lord of the Dance."
Partner Perfect: For the "Switch-Up Challenge," Nyle & Sharna Burgess did a Viennese Waltz to "I Get to Love You" by Ruelle. Tyra Banks popped by during rehearsals to remind Nyle just how amazing he is. Even with a new partner, Nyle didn't miss a beat in his lovely, atmospheric dance. Carrie Ann was in tears at the end of it. So was his original partner, Peta. See why!
Sounds of Silence: During the "Quarterfinals," Nyle DiMarco & Peta Murgatroyd did a Paso to "Victorious" by Panic! At the Disco. There was an amazing moment where there was total silence in the middle of the dance. Len felt Nyle strutted out a little too much, but he is impressed with the purpose and confidence that is exhibited every week. Bruno felt this routine was a Dancing with the Stars classic that no one will ever forget. Carrie Ann agreed that she never saw anything that touched her so profoundly.
Blind Ambition: For their solo dance in the "Semifinals," Nyle DiMarco & Peta Murgatroyd did the Argentine Tango. As extra challenge, Nyle was blindfolded during part of the routine. Len declares that Nyle never ceases to amaze him. Bruno was mesmerized by the dance. Carrie Ann says his fearlessness inspires her to her deepest core. See what she means.
Simply the Best: In "The Finals Part 1," Nyle & Peta did a Quickstep for their redemption dance. Bruno noticed Nyle lost a little bit of precision on an otherwise fabulous routine. A shirtless Nyle wanted to tell a story of how he's giving hope to deaf people with his Freestyle dance. The crowd certainly wasn't silent when expressing their approval. Carrie Ann said it was the best dance she's seen in 22 seasons on the show. See what she means:
Congrats to Nyle DiMarco and Peta Mergatroyd, your Dancing with the Stars 2016 Champs!
